A Senior Research Analyst is being sought as an integral part of the Governance & Advancement Services team to develop and maintain a sustainable major gift pipeline, and to provide strategic research support that will assist in the identification and cultivation of donors and volunteers committed to Sinai Health Foundation’s philanthropic goals.

Reporting to the Director, Research Analytics, this position, along with producing strategic research products and helping to identify prospects, manages the team’s research and prospect clearance requests, leads prospect research and management training, and supports the maintenance of fundraiser portfolios.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Research & Strategic Intelligence:

  • Interpret, analyze, and summarize biographical, business, and financial data while adhering to standards of discretion and confidentiality such as those set out by Sinai Health Foundation, AFP and APRA
  • Identify and interpret wealth indicators and their potential impact on philanthropic giving, including shareholding and real estate values, philanthropic activity, as well as general industry compensation ranges when a specific salary is not identified
  • Exercise expertise and analytical judgement in selecting information to include in research materials based on reliability of source and stakeholder needs
  • Conduct targeted, complex queries within our databases to extract meaningful and accurate data insights for internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop prospect strategies (independently or working with internal stakeholders) based on prospect research materials and professional expertise
  • Make recommendations regarding purchases of Prospect Research subscription resources, process, policies and procedures for efficient prospect research activities to the Director, Research Analytics
  • Monitor and communicate news, events and issues that impact on the Foundation’s fundraising strategies and the philanthropic environment
  • Provide Prospect Research and prospect maintenance training for new staff as part of the onboarding process as well as refresher training for current staff

Prospect Identification & Management:

  • Create and develop innovative proactive prospecting methodologies to identify major gift prospects
  • Identify ways to maintain a robust major gift pipeline by working collaboratively with the Philanthropy, Integrated Marketing and Events teams
  • Maintain moves management and prospect tracking systems to record, monitor and measure related fundraising activities
  • Determine capacity/prospect ratings based on industry standard formulas, life stage and public wealth indicators
  • Expertise with, and an understanding of, fundraising techniques and strategies throughout the cultivation cycle
  • Conduct regular portfolio analysis and reviews with members of the Philanthropy team and other staff that manage a prospect pool
  • Ensure prospect records are accurately recorded within Raiser’s Edge, the foundation’s database of record
  • Identify and research prospective Foundation board and committee volunteers, as well as community engagement members with a particular focus on engaging the next generation of philanthropic leaders of the Foundation.

Position requirements:

  • Successful completion of an undergraduate degree or diploma in library sciences, social sciences or a related field from an accredited educational institution. Proven equivalent and recent related education, training and experience may be considered
  • 5 – 7 years of related experience with prospect/donor research preferably within a large dynamic not-for-profit environment (exposure to a fundraising environment an asset)
  • Advanced expertise in prospect identification, management and tracking principles and methods, and experience in monitoring the prospect clearance process required
  • Strong knowledge of using CRM databases, in particular Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge and using the Microsoft Office Suite
  • A sense of curiosity and collaborative mind set
  • Excellent ability to analyze and interpret data, and to synthesize complex information from multiple sources
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate in a tactful and professional manner
  • Works well in a diverse team environment with the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Commitment to ongoing learning from recognized governing bodies related to prospect research, management and analytics

Salary range: The salary range for this role is $87,151 to $108,939.
