Hours: 35 Hours
Wage range or Salary: $60,000 - $80,000
Status: Permanent, Full Time

Reporting to Director, Major Gifts and working in collaboration with peer Research Officers, the role will support the fundraising efforts of the Major and Estate Giving team and the Foundation. This role will play a key role in preparing research products such as profiles of key individuals and organizations as well as other research duties as required. This role helps inform strategy, develop relationships, and contributes to the overall fundraising goals of The Princess Margaret.

You will:

  • Provide a variety of research products using in-depth research tools in response to the needs of the foundation
  • Conduct biographical and financial research on donors utilizing internal information and a variety of digital and printed sources.
  • Evaluate prospective donors, their interests, relationships, inclination to give, and philanthropic capacity.
  • Write confidential research profiles on individuals, foundations, and corporate donors.
  • Prepare briefings for foundation events.
  • Revise templates and compose documents (profiles, biographies) using style and content appropriate to specific audiences.
  • Monitor and communicate news, events, and issues that impact PMCF’s fundraising strategies, the philanthropic environment, and stakeholders and volunteers.
  • Manage the prospect clearance policy across PMCF to increase collaboration and improve current processes.
  • Identify new prospective donors to fuel the pipeline for the Major and Estate Giving Team.
  • Respond in a timely way to requests for research and information.
  • Appropriately handle, sort and store donor and prospective donor information, ensuring compliance with confidentiality and privacy policies.
  • Manage resources and subscriptions to ensure the integrity of our resources.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library and / or Information Studies, Master’s Degree preferred OR an equivalent combination of education and experience in information technology and prospect research in fundraising
  • Knowledge of research resources including subscriptions, databases, and other online sources
  • Experience in donor research or library services.
  • Experience working in a healthcare fundraising and / or fundraising campaign environment is an asset.
  • Experience with Blackbaud CRM/Raiser’s Edge database or other fundraising software is an asset.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a goal-oriented environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with Microsoft Office experience
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, work well with others, and manage competing deadlines and projects.
  • Ability to make the connection between the donor’s motivations and the needs of the organization and communicating that effectively to staff and volunteers.
  • High degree of professionalism and the ability to work independently and problem solve.
