Georgian College’s Advancement and Alumni Relations department creates and maintains strong relationships with a variety of constituents to inspire investment and deepen engagement to the College. The department is organized into three integrated units: Major Gifts, Partnerships and Sponsorships; Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving; and Donor Relations and Operations. 

Under the direction of the Associate Director, Advancement Services, the Prospect Development and Records Specialist will support the fundraising and alumni engagement initiatives of the college. The Specialist has five main areas of responsibility: 1) prospect identification; 2) prospect management; 3) prospect research; 4) records management; and 5) competitive intelligence and constituent development. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

•    Responsible for the systematic and proactive identification of potential major gift donors, top alumni, and leadership volunteers 
•    Develop and implement the department’s prospect rating system to inform qualification, and engagement strategy for major gift prospects
•    Develop concise prospect research profiles or briefing documents that provide strategic insights and recommendations related to engagement and/or solicitation
•    Prepare and present strategic insights and recommendations that inform fundraising strategy and alumni engagement to a variety of staff and volunteers including the Advancement and Alumni Relations team and the President’s Leadership Team
•    Contribute to a strong data integrity and quality culture;  conducting data quality control reviews for alumni and major gift donor/prospect records 
•    Responsible for the accuracy of all data points related to major gift activity including prospect classification, status; prospect assignments and planned solicitations
•    Develop and generate prospect management reports on a consistent schedule 
•    Prepare and circulate summaries and insights on alumni achievements, prospect intelligence, local/regional donation activity, and donor news
•    Acts as a subject matter expert to train and support team members on the prospect management system and prospect development best practices

Qualifications:
•    Successfully completed a three-year postsecondary diploma/degree in a relevant field of study
•    A minimum of five years’ experience working in an advancement-related function is required, preferably in a higher education setting, of which four years experience working in a prospect development role (prospect research, prospect management, prospect identification)
•    Completion of a post-graduate program in fundraising or research analyst, library sciences is considered an asset
•    Proven communication skills (written and oral) in order to write and edit material  
•    Demonstrated attention to detail ensuring a high level of accuracy
•    Demonstrated experience working with confidential information
•    The ability to collect, analyze, interpret and evaluate information, identifying insights and key trends
