Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Business Intelligence and Development Operations, the Business Analyst, Fundraising and Marketing, will be a key contributor to NCC’s marketing and fundraising efforts and the organization’s ability to reach its strategic plan goals. 

The Business Analyst will be a key contributor in creating regular and ad hoc reports and analytical analyses to enable data-driven decision making for stakeholders across the organization. In this role, you will translate stakeholder needs into technical requirements and engage in the end-to-end analytics life cycle involving data exploration, data cleaning, data synthesis and data presentation. 

You will also support the development and promotion of BI solutions, data policies, standards, and procedures and build awareness of methodologies, processes, and tools as we work towards becoming an insight-driven organization.

This role requires a someone who loves asking why and will push NCC to strengthen and streamline our reporting and analytics, weaving together best practices and the newest ideas in the field. 

Job Responsibilities

Data analysis and data visualization (65%)

  • Analyse, model and interpret data and information from a variety of sources in ways that facilitate the proposal of solutions and decision-making.
  • Perform ad hoc analyses and build out reports and dashboards to monitor performance, identify trends, transform data into actionable insights and communicate these insights to stakeholders across the Fundraising teams.
  • Illustrate data graphically and translate complex findings into easily understandable reports and presentations.

Collaboration, strategy and planning (25%)

  • Work closely with teams in Marketing and Development to understand, identify, and articulate their analytical needs.
  • Train and support end-users understanding, accessing, and using models, reports, and dashboards.

System development (10%)

  • Evaluate internal systems and processes for efficiencies and inaccuracies
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of protocols for handling, processing, cleaning and optimizing data.

Position Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree (Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or Statistics preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years relevant experience (not-for-profit experience an asset)

Skills and Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge and practical experience of data analysis, reporting, and data visualization in the not-for-profit fundraising space
  • Strong listening, communication, and collaboration skills 
  • Experience working with databases and creating reports and dashboards 
  • Raiser’s Edge or other relational database experience 
  • Programming skills (e.g., SQL, SAS, R, Python)
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, Raw, chart.js)
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel)
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and service skills 
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in French is an asset
