Speakers

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how prospect researchers discover information, analyze data, and support fundraising strategy. While many organizations are exploring AI tools, far fewer have established clear guidelines for responsible use.

This interactive workshop is designed for prospect research and prospect development professionals who want to create or strengthen AI governance within their own organizations. Using real-world fundraising and prospect research scenarios, and learning from an organization that has successfully written and adopted an AI Ethical Use Policy, participants will explore the opportunities, risks, and ethical considerations of AI in the nonprofit environment.

This session will guide attendees through the key elements of an effective AI framework, including donor privacy, data governance, transparency, human oversight, vendor evaluation, and appropriate use cases. Participants will leave with a practical planning tool and a draft outline they can use to begin building an AI policy tailored to their organization's needs.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the key risks and opportunities associated with AI use in prospect research, and for nonprofits more generally.
  • Understand the core components of an effective AI governance framework.
  • Assess whether their organization is ready for AI adoption and identify policy gaps.
  • Create a draft AI policy framework or action plan to take back to their organization.
  • Discuss questions that will arise when your organization adopts AI in research and beyond, and how to address them.
