Karla has worked in visual arts, theatre, and higher education for over 25 years. She holds a BA (history in art) from UVic. Karla has been a Prospect Researcher at UVic since 2001, a time when the campus was overrun with rabbits, and received one of the largest gifts from a shepherd and heritage building preservationist. It’s always interesting on the west coast! UVic has been raising $28M-$45M annually since 2020. In addition to her management responsibilities, Karla work with Principal Gifts, Indigenous Initiatives, the Faculty of Business, and the Faculty of Law and Indigenous Legal Orders (JID). Her team of three is currently focusing on increasing their Prospect Identification tenfold. Karla received the APRA Canada Excellence in Prospect Research Award in 2022.
