About The Food Bank of York Region

The Food Bank of York Region (FBYR) is a registered charitable organization committed to providing food relief to people experiencing food insecurity and hunger in Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, Whitchurch/Stouffville, Aurora, King, Newmarket, East Gwillimbury and Georgina. Our Food Bank is recognized as the food collection and distribution hub for York Region by Feed Ontario and Food Banks Canada. Our Food Bank collects and warehouses surplus food and redistributes it to community food pantries, social service agencies schools, social housing cooperatives.

About the Role

The Fundraising Manager builds and strengthens strategic relationships with foundations, corporations and individuals that are committed to advancing The Food Bank of York Region’s mission. This role works closely with the fundraising team to achieve The Food Bank of York Region’s fundraising targets. The Fundraising Manager plays a key role in driving revenue growth by securing significant gifts from corporate, foundation and individual partners.

What You Will Be Doing

In collaboration with the CEO and the Fundraising Committee, the Fundraising manager will develop and articulate a comprehensive vision and strategy for philanthropic partnerships that supports The Food Bank of York Region’s mission and long-term sustainability.

In collaboration with the CEO and Fundraising Committee, the Fundraising Manager will

· Personally manage and grow a portfolio of donor partners.

· Establish department goals, targets and implementation.

· Ensure a clear division of responsibilities, maximum revenue and implementation of fundraising best practices across the development portfolio.

· Provide leadership to direct reports, coaching on best practices in corporate partnerships including strategic portfolio management and recognition, partnership alignment, shared value and cultivating a culture of philanthropy.

· Provide monthly/quarterly and annual targets and reports to the CEO/Board of Directors.

· Plan and execute fundraising events and campaigns using all available fundraising tools.

· Write press releases, web copy, newsletters, e-blasts, printed publications, annual report, report on hunger etc.

· Grant research/writing/LOI’s and acknowledgments when required.

What You Will Need

Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in fundraising, including a track record of leading successful fundraising efforts including foundations and grants.

Demonstrated successful track record of annual, major and/or planned giving campaigns, including examples of proven success asking for (and closing) major gifts and managing fundraising events.

Superb written and verbal skills to communicate with donors and other stakeholders across diverse sectors and demographics; must have experience in public speaking.

Experience using fundraising software and tools to analyze and track progress throughout the year, research donor prospects, and send communications.

Excellent organizational and time management skills to keep projects on track.

Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles.

Excellent interpersonal and managerial skills with a demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.

Experience supervising and motivating fundraising staff, board members, and volunteers.

Proficiency in speaking and writing in English.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, or similar software.

Working Conditions

Full-time, on-site Monday-Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work if necessary.
